Searching vehicles for bombs is a common checkpoint function. Spector is designed to keep people away from the bombs they are looking for.

Spector is a small, round, omni-directional robot. It is equipped with a color video camera and LED lighting. The camera tilts 90 degrees from horizontal to vertical. Using the Mobi OCU, you can drive Spector underneath a car, using the camera in horizontal orientation to give you a view of the horizon and where the robot is going. Once under a vehicle, tilt the camera vertical to inspect the undercarriage for explosives or contraband.
Spector is short enough that it can fit under any normal car. The bright white LEDs light up the bottom of vehicles from different angles, and the color camera gives you the resolution you need to see details.

The three omnidirectional wheels let you move in any direction while keeping the same orientation, and can operate on pavement, gravel, and dirt.

Spector also has a payload bay for attaching chemical detectors.

The entire system, including Spector and an operator control unit (OCU), is lightweight, portable and deployable in seconds. Spector doesn't need installation, and is the best way to inspect parked cars that other stand-off systems can't.
