JAUS (Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems) is not just a set of formatted messages. It is also an architecture, which groups the components of a robotic system into functional blocks which interact in certain established ways. ASI’s jausNOW Library provides both the message set and leverages the architecture to provide customers with a robust, flexible, and interoperable base on which to build robotic systems. Implementation of the jausNOW Library on a user’s platform will enable the user to achieve compliance with the JAUS standard in a short time for a very low cost.

Mobi™ is a portable handheld Operator Control Unit (OCU) for commanding unmanned robotic platforms. Its modular design allows the choice of control inputs (joysticks, rockers, switches, scroll wheels, buttons, etc.) needed to intuitively control robots. The system consists of a hardened computer/display attached to two handles that house the interchangeable control inputs. It also contains a copy of Mobius™, the de facto standard in robotic vehicle command and control software. A support neck strap is supplied to reduce operator fatigue and free up hands for other activities. Mobi’s flexible and robust design provides a superior user interface solution that can be adapted to fit an unlimited variety of robots and operating environments.

All unmanned systems need human input. That interface between operators and vehicles should not be the weakest part of the system.
The operator must be able to command and monitor vehicles in adverse conditions and situations without being distracted by arcane controls or cryptic feedback. The operator must have total situational awareness, and be able to react instantly to changes that may affect the mission.
Now, there is a way for operators to do all this with minimal training.
