Mobi is a fully capable Operator Control Unit (OCU) that weighs less than ten pounds. It is designed to be held while being used and features two ergonomic handles with thumb controls as well as a neck strap to support its weight.
When you don't need to stand and walk around, Mobi can become the center of a command station with an external monitor, controls, and antennas. When you need to keep mobile, Mobi is easy to carry and use while standing or walking. The screen is daylight-readable with an adjustable backlight that can be turned down for night use.
Mobi includes a built-in Freewave data radio with a range of up to 20 miles, and built-in 802.11g. Longer range 802.11g options are also available, and Mobi can be plugged into any external radio that supports USB or serial.
Each Mobi OCU includes a copy of Mobius, so you get out-of-the-box support for JAUS. That means you can use it to control any JAUS-compliant vehicle or payload. With Mobi, there's no need to have a seperate OCU for each vehicle type. Consolidating OCUs saves on space, equipment costs, and training for operators.
Mobi™ is self-contained, lightweight, handheld
The only OCU that you can actually carry while you use it. Most control
units are bulky, heavy boxes that need to be set on a table or other
flat surface to be used. They tie you down to one spot, and can't be
quickly moved if necessary. What if someone starts shooting at
you? You'd have to just leave the OCU and take cover, and your robot
would be stranded.
Or, say you want to sit inside a vehicle to operate the robot. With the other guys' OCU, your vehicle had better be an RV with a kitchen table.
And if the robot you want to control is small, what's the point of having a small, portable robot with an OCU that's bigger than it is? I mean, the robot can carry itself around, but you have to carry the OCU around.
Mobi™ is fully JAUS compliant messaging
Mobi™ runs Mobius™, so it's fully JAUS compliant. JAUS is a messaging standard that allows OCUs, vehicles, and payloads
to communicate. It provides a common link across manufacturers and applications so you aren't tied down to a single vendor. You can go and
get the hardware and software you need, and if it's JAUS compliant, it will work with our hardware and software. It's the future of unmanned
systems, and ASI has been committed to it from the beginning, and we'll be there with support as the technologies and standards mature.
Mobi™ is interchangable handle options
You can order Mobi with the thumb controls that you want. If you need sliders, scrollers, switches, joysticks, hat switches, buttons, or anything else, you can get them in the combinations you want. This lets you design the controls to suit your application, and lets you customize the hardware in addition to the software. If you want an OCU for general use, you can order two joysticks and eight buttons. Each handle includes a deadman switch positioned so it is easily activated when you are holding either handle.
