Autonomous Solutions, Inc. CEO Awarded Small Business Person of the Year |
LOGAN, UTAH, January, 19, 2007 – Melvin Torrie, President and CEO of Autonomous Solutions, Inc. was recognized as the Small Business Person of the Year during the 95th Annual Cache Chamber of Commerce Banquet recently held at Utah State University.
Autonomous Solutions was founded in December 2000 for the purpose of commercializing technologies developed under the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the Center for Self-Organizing and Intelligent Systems (CSOIS) funding. The company is staffed with highly educated individuals who excel in computer, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
ASI technologies are used in military applications and with industrial customers, such as John Deere, Good Year, Raytheon, BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin, to name a few.
“I saw some amazing technology that is so futuristic it smacks of science fiction,” says Fred Ball, senior vice president for Zion’s Bank and host of Zion’s Bank Speaking on Business syndicated radio segment.
These futuristic technologies enable the military and commercial industries the ability of operating unmanned vehicles for dangerous or difficult tasks such as bomb detection and disposal or the application of chemical sprays. Other capabilities include vehicle’s path planning for optimization of fuel and avoidance of physical obstacles in path’s way.

Receiving this award also serves as nomination to Utah’s Small Business Development Administration who will recognize Utah’s Small Business Person of the Year early in the Spring of 2007
