LOGAN, UT — Sept. 10, 2003 — Mel Torrie, president of Autonomous Solutions, Inc. (ASI), announced today the release of their JAUS Autonomous Development Ensemble (JADE), a hardware and software package designed for the accelerated development of JAUS-compliant automated vehicles.
The basic JADE hardware platform is a vehicle, modified and ready to accept JAUS 3.0 wrench messages. This vehicle allows companies or institutions to quickly test or develop JAUS command sequences without having to create their own vehicle platform. In addition to the hardware, JADE is available with Autonomous Solutions' industry-leading command and control interface, complete with 2-D and 3-D operating space visualization, advanced map building, path building, path planning, route training, and sensor feedback capabilities. "We have spent many months working with the JAUS standard," said Torrie, "interacting closely with the standards committee to create and finalize the JAUS 3.0 specification." Torrie emphasized that JAUS is critical to the success of the current and future autonomous vehicle industry. Because of its crucial role in the industry, "we created JADE as a tool to jump start projects and development for companies that are just making the transition."
By building on a command-ready platform, companies can use JADE to learn and teach JAUS development. And, since the JADE vehicle is ready to roll when it comes out of the box, it also provides a good starting point to create custom autonomous vehicle projects for other customers. JADE is designed to work with a variety of sensors and peripherals, including wireless communication radios, GPS devices, obstacle detection sensors, cameras, optical gyros, scanning lasers, tele-operation equipment, and more. "We also offer customized JADE and JAUS training for interested organizations," said Paul Lewis, operations manager. "With our in-depth understanding of JAUS structure and applications, we can help bring your development team up to speed."
JADE is available now. Complete details and pricing are available by contacting Autonomous Solutions Inc. at (866) 881-2171 or via e-mail at
