Some of the work we've done for companies looking to improve their operating methods include electronics design for HK Systems, and automating tractor tire testing for Goodyear.

Autonomous Solutions developed new electronics and control software for an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) that HK Systems of Bountiful, UT has made for twenty years. The result of the project is the brand new HK 40 Eagle III, which is being sold to leading manufacturers and distributors across North America.

The new electronics and software allow the AGV to drive itself with a tracking accuracy of +/- 0.25 inches, at a maximum speed of 200 feet per minute, with a maximum payload of 4,000 pounds, and stop within 0.1 inches of its target. According to experts at ASI, simulation played an important role in achieving these capabilities.

ASI used simulation to enable multiple developers to work on a single AGV simultaneously without sharing the actual hardware. Simulation was done on three levels: software simulation of the complete system, simulation of the vehicle and its motion using electronics hardware, and simulation of motion using the actual vehicle. Simulation tools enabled ASI to achieve high accuracy in about half the time it would have taken without them.

The new design also allows the HK40 AGV to use laser bumpers instead of physical bumpers and includes an improved touch-screen interface.

For Goodyear, ASI designed and built an autonomous tractor system for tire and track testing. Goodyear's proving grounds package allows them to do reproducible, consistent testing 24 hours a day without driver fatigue.
